All members of our painting team paint at the same rate. If 20 members can paint a 2000 square foot wall in 40 minutes, then how long would it take the 20 members to paint a 6000 square foot wall, in minutes?

#1**+1 **

We can write this problem as a simple ratio problem:

20: 2000: 40

20: 6000: ?

Since the amount of members didn't change, we can just examine the difference in the amount of wall needed to be painted. We can notice that there is **3x** the amount of wall that is needed to be painted, and therefore it should take **3x** the amount of time (with the same amount of people) to paint it.

So 40 x 3= **120 minutes**
