a=3 b= -7 c=-2

3𝑥^2-7𝑥-2=0

calculator keeps saying math error when i apply the formula?

If you just want to know how to put this in the calculator..........

x = ( -b ± √( b^2 - 4ac ) ) / ( 2)          Make sure " 2a " is in parenthesees, otherwise the " a " goes in the numerator.

x = ( -(-7) ± √( (-7)^2 - 4(3)(-2) ) ) / ( 2(3) )

You can type it, or just copy and paste this, into the calculator on the home page like this...

First solution:          ( -(-7)+sqrt((-7)^2-4(3)(-2)))/(2(3))

Second solution:     ( -(-7)-sqrt((-7)^2-4(3)(-2)))/(2(3))

So...you should get

x ≈ 2.591          and          x ≈ -0.257
