Solve for x: -27 x-38 x^2 = -25 Divide both sides by -38: x^2+(27 x)/38 = 25/38 Add 729/5776 to both sides: x^2+(27 x)/38+729/5776 = 4529/5776 Write the left hand side as a square: (x+27/76)^2 = 4529/5776 Take the square root of both sides: x+27/76 = sqrt(4529)/76 or x+27/76 = -sqrt(4529)/76 Subtract 27/76 from both sides: x = sqrt(4529)/76-27/76 or x+27/76 = -sqrt(4529)/76 Subtract 27/76 from both sides: Answer: | | x = sqrt(4529)/76-27/76   or    x = -27/76sqrt(4529)/76

P.S. Please DO NOT use "e" as a variable, because "e" has a special meaning in Math.

Let's use x instead of e........as guest points out......."e" might be construed as a constant rather than a variable....

Rearrange as

38x^2 + 27x  - 25  = 0

Using the qudratic formula, we have

x = [ -27 +/-   sqrt [27^2 - 4(38)(-25) ] ] / 2(38)

x = [ -27 +/- sqrt (4529) ] / 76    ≈  0. 530     or     [-27 - sqrt(4529)] / 76  ≈ -1.209

cool cool cool
