The skateboard ramp in the picture is calles a quarter pipe. The curved surface is determined by the radius of a circle. Find the length of the curved part of the ramp.

(Use the formula \(S=\theta r\) where \(S\) is the arc length, \(\theta\) is the angle measured in radians, and \(r\) is the radius of the circle.)

The length  is   just the quarter perimeter of a circle with a radius of  8 ft  =

S  =  r θ

 (8) * pi / 2    =

4 pi    ft
