Triangle  BDC  is similar to triangle BEA

 

Therefore     EA :  DC  = 20 : 10   = 2 : 1

 

Therefore...there are 3 parts to the total  height of the figure

 

And...since the triangles are similar..it means that the height of triangle BEA  to the height of triangle BDC = 2 : 1

 

So....the height of  triangle  BEA  = h  =  (2/3) (36)   = 24 cm
