How to simplify a decimal down to one decimal place? sad Halp meh...

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but I think you are talking about rounding.

 

If you need to round a decimal like 7.235 to the first decimal place, then you just look at the number after the first decimal place (3). If that number is less than 5 then you keep the first decimal place the same, but if that number is greater than or equal to 5 then you increase the first decimal place by 1 digit.

 

So in this case, the number after the first decimal place (the hundredths place) is  3 so that means you round down.

Therefore, the number rounded to the tenths (first) place is 7.2

 

If the number was 7.259 then the rounded answer would be 7.3
