Using Algebra...

Letting x be the desired number, we have \($\frac{6}{x}=\frac{9}{4}$\). Multiplying both sides by x and by 4 gives 24 = 9x . Dividing both sides by 9 gives \($x=\frac{24}{9}=\frac{8}{3}=\boxed{2\frac{2}{3}}$ \).

Dividing both sides by 9 gives \(x=\frac{24}{9}=\frac{8}{3}=\boxed{2\frac{2}{3}}\)

6 * 1/x = x

6/x = x

6 = x2

6 = sqrt(6)

Of course, this is assuming 6 times the reciprocal of a number is the number itself. What's in the gap? :D
