Estimate the solution to the following system of equations by graphing.
Equations:
5x-4y=-20
4x+y=7
Answer Choices:
a.) x = 11/2 & y = 1/3
b.) x = 1/3 & y = 11/3
c.) x = 1/3 & y = 11/2
d.) x = 11/3 & y = 1/3
If you can you elaborate on how you got your answer so I know what to do, thanks! BTW: it's me APatel, don't know if you remember me but it's been a while but I forgot my login credentials...
Hi APatel :)
Here is a simple way on how to solve this problem.
We can rearrange some of the numbers and variables and find that:
The y-intercept of the first equation is 5.
The x-intercept of the first equation is 4.
The y-intercept of the second equation is 7.
The x-intercept of the second equation is 7/4.
The slope of the first equation is positive.
The slope of the second equation is negative.
Will this help you estimate?
If you need more help I'll be happy to help! :)
Since your Q asks for a graphical solution,...here are the graphs from Desmos.....where they intersect is the solution
Another good site (kind of like Desmos) is GeoGebra. :) Hope this helps you in the future
