Maria sells cupcakes at lunch to raise money for the student council. She sells each cupcake for $1.00 and spends $0.40 making each one. Maria makes at least $30.00 for the student council by selling cupcakes.

Let c equal the number of cupcakes Maria sells, write the inequality that represents the situation.

She makes 60 cents selling each cupcake.

So.....the number sold times the profit on each gives the total profit.

And we have....

.60c ≥ $30   where "c" is the number sold
