I know this is really simple, but I can't seem to work this out without getting a weird answer.
The equation I have to solve is 8-5x = 2
Anyone care to help out?

8-5x = 2
+5x on both sides

8-5x+5x = 2+5x
8 = 2+5x
-2 on both sides
8-2 = 2+5x-2
8-2 = 2-2+5x
6 = 5x
divide both sides by 5
6/5 = 5x/5
6/5 = 1x
6/5 = x
x=6/5=1 1/5 = 1.2

[input]8-5x = 2[/input]

8-5x+5x = 2+5x
8 = 2+5x

8-2 = 2+5x-2
8-2 = 2-2+5x
6 = 5x
divide both sides by 5
6/5 = 5x/5
6/5 = 1x
6/5 = x
x=6/5=1 1/5 = 1.2

THIS IS RIGHT. but it's written TOO complicated.
here's an easier way:

8-5x = 2
+5x on both sides
-> 8 = 2 + 5x
-2 on both sides
-> 6 = 5x
then, to find out what the x is, you have to get to leave the x alone, so you divide it by 5 on both sides.
-> x = 6/5 ( six divided by 5 )
-> x = 1.2

HOPE THAT I HELPED YOU.

SINCERELY ALICIA.
