|-1| + 3 = 4            7 + |-2| = 9

 

4 and 9 are the legs of a right triangle ABC

 

Let angle BAC be β           β = arctan(9/4) = 66.03751103º

 

|-6| + 3 = 9         ( this is a short leg of triangle ADE )

 

DE = AD * tan( β ) = 20.25

 

y = 20.25 - 2 = 18.25
