Steven bakes brownies for a Math 101 study group which has a total of 6 people in it (including himself). He realizes that no matter how many of them show up (as long as he's not the only one there) then after they share out the brownies equally there will be one left over. What's the smallest number of brownies he could have baked?

So...either 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 people show up

And the least common multiple for  2,3,4, 5 , 6  =  60

So.....the least number he could bake with one left   is  60 + 1   = 61
