Chris needs to use a ladder to put up a television aerial on the wall of the the house. The ladder is 5 metres long and has to reach 4.8 metres up the wall. For safety, the angle between the ladder and the ground should be between 71 degrees and 76 degrees. The ground is horizontal. Can chris use this ladder safely? Why?

The angle of the ladder will be given by

Sin (angle) =  4.8 / 5 = .96

Arcsin(.96) = 73.73 degrees    it is safe to use the ladder

Sorry for previous response.. skipped the arcsin of 0.96.  answer should be YES, angle formed is 73.739 or 73.74 degrees, so it is safe to use the ladder
