A stick is 5 inches long. It is broken at two points, chosen at random. What is the probability that all three pieces are longer than 1 inch?
The probability for the first piece is 4/5, and the probability for the second piece is 4/5, so the probability is 16/25.
What about the third piece? And why is the second one also 4/5?
Could you please explain your reasoning? I'm confused about why the probability for the second piece is also 4/5.
