this is a bit of a random question, but what do tan & tanh do?

tan is a trigonomitry function, where if you have an angle in a right triangle, it says adjacent/oppisite sides.

tan means that if there is a right triangle, and you know one of the other angles, you can pyt it in and figure out the ratio of the other two sides. like a right triangle with an angle of 45, if you put in 45 tan, you will get 1, because the ratio is 1/1. 

 

i have no idea what tanh is though, sorry.
