A wrecking crane lifts a 1400-kg wrecking ball straight up with a constant acceleration of 1.5 m/s2 using a 25-m long steel cable that is 2.5 cm in diameter. Young's modulus for this steel is 1.9 × 1011 N/m2. What is the change in length of the cable caused by lifting the ball?

A.4.9 cm

B.4.9 m

C.8.4 cm

D.4.9 mm

E.4.2 mm

Use:  deltaL = L*F/(A*Y)

L is length, F is force, A is cross-sectional area, Y is Young's modulus.

Also use:  F = m*a

m is mass, a is acceleration.

Make sure the units are consistent (e.g. Area in m^2 if length in metres).
