Guest: How do you convert nonterminating decimals to a fraction?
There is a few different ways. I'll show you one with an example
0.03577777777...... I am going to call this number x
x has only 1 digit repeating so I am going to multiply it by 10 (If there were 2 numbers repeating I would mult by 100, 3 numbers -1000 etc)
10x = 0.357777777.....
...x..= 0.035777777777..... I have tried to line these up. The decimal points, I mean
............................................now subtract the bottom one from the top one
9x...= 0.322 (all the other 7s cancel out)
x = 0.322/9
You will now need to multiply the top and the bottom by 1000 to get rid of the decimal point
x = 322 / 9000 and now you can simplify it yourself.
