I THINK you mean    -7 , - sqrt 23       this is in Quadrant III      sin and cos will be negative

 

    the point describes a right triangle with the x-axis

       hypotenuse (using Pythag Theor)

             =        hyp^2 =  (-7)^2  + (-sqrt 23)^2

                       hyp = sqrt 72

 

cos = adj / hyp     =  - 7 / sqrt(72)        and simplify......
