Alvin spent 2/5 of his money and an additional $6 on text books and 1/3 of the remaining money and an additional $8 on comics. He had $32 left. How much money did Alvin have at first?

you heard the title. The answer is supposed to be $132 but I don't know how to get it. This is what I don't like about gauthmath. They mostly give me wrong answers.

spending 2/5 leaves 3/5         amount of money left = 3/5 x -6

now spend 1/3 of this and an add'l 8 this leaves   2/3 of the remaining amount - 8

                  2/3 ( 3/5x -6) - 8      and this = 32

2/3 ( 3/5 x - 6) - 8 = 32

6/15x - 4 -8 = 32

6/15 x= 44

x = 44 * 15/6 = original amount = 110 dollars

Let's check    110 - 2/5(110) =  66 -6 = 60

  60- 1/3 * 60 = 40      subtract   8 more = 32    CHECK !
