This is a good question Sally, it made me think for a moment.

The rate of change between 2 points is the change in output (difference of the f(x) values) over the change in input (difference of the x vaues).  This is a line so the rate of change between any two points will always be the same.  It is the gradient.  And the gradient for this line is 7.
