The design for a small counter topis shown. What is the perimeter and area of the counter top?

the perimeter of the countertop would be 

1.5 + (7-3) + 7 + 4 + 3 + (4 - 1.5) = 1.5 + 4 + 7 + 4 + 3 + 2.5 = 22.

 

 

for the area, we can divide the shape into two rectangles.

the area of the smaller rectangle would be 1.5 * (7 - 3) = 1.5 * 4 = 6.

the area of the larger rectangle would be 3 * 4 = 12.

so, the area of the countertop is simply 12 + 6 = 18.
