The state of Ohio conducted tests on 107,109 people, and 14,581 tested positive.

A. What is 𝑝̂ for the number who tested positive (round to the nearest hundredth of a percent)?

B. Based on the testing results, of the 11.69 million people who live in Ohio, what is the best estimate for the number of people who would test positive for the disease?

A) I'm not sure, but I think 𝑝̂ is the percentage. The fraction for this would be 14581 / 107109, the decimal being 0.136132... :)

The percentage would be 100 times the decimal, so that's around 13.613 % people positive :D

B) Here, we just find 13.613 percent of 11.69 million people. That would be 13.613 / 100    *    11,690,000 = an estimate of around 1,591,359 people positive :D

It says round to the nearest hundredth not thousandth. This tiny error will change your answer in part 2!!

Anyways... The percent of people who tested positive to the nearest hundredth is 13.61%.

That means that the estimate for 11.69 million people who test positive is .1361 * 11690000 = 1, 591, 009 people

*Note: I am using the same steps as CentsLord but with different numbers...
