The area of a regular hexagon is given by:

6*(1/2)*s2*(√(3)/2) =  (1/2)*(3√(3))*s2 ....  where s is the side length

So we have

(1/2)*(3√(3))*(5/8)2

(1/2)*(3√(3))*(25/64) =

(75√(3)) / (128)  sq inches
