There are thirty-five red, yellow, orange, and white marbles in a bag. If half the number of red marbles equals two less than the number of yellow marbles, equals a third the number of orange marbles, and equals two more than the number of white marbles, how many red marbles are there?

1/2 r = y-2         y= 1/2r +2

1/2 r = 1/3 o      0=  3/2 r

1/2 r = 2 + w      w = 1/2 r -2

r                                r

Add right column    3.5 r     equals all of the marbles = 35

                                    r = 10
