Lucy has decided to start a dog sitting business. She needed 45 dollars in supplies to get her new venture started. She charges 2 dollars for each dog she walks for 20 minutes.

If Lucy has walked 42 dogs so far, how much money has she made?

(Assume she walked each dog 20 minutes)

a) 39 dollars

b) 47 dollars

c) 129 dollars

d) 84 dollars

You walk each dog 20 minutes.

For every 20 minutes you get 2 dollars.

You walked 42 dogs.

You claim you are a "smartmathman".

You should easily know it's 2 dollars per dog, since you walk a dog for 20 minutes and each 20 minutes is 2 dollars.

I was wondering if I should subtract the $45 or not. If it's just how much she made walking in gross income.

Yes, subtract her expenses of 45 from the total she earned to get how much she 'made' .....
