Two truck drivers are traveling from a factory to make deliveries. The graph and the table below show the data for their distances after each hour.
Using this information, which of these statements are true? Choose the THREE responses that are correct.
A
The equation that represents the data shown for truck 1 is y=20x .
B
The constant of proportionality for the data for truck 2 is 45 miles per hour.
C
The constant of proportionality for the data for truck 1 is 20 miles per hour.
D
The distance traveled over time by both trucks represent proportional relationships.
E
The data shown for the distance traveled for truck 2 represent a non-linear relationship.
The first looks pretty linear to me
y changes by 20 when x changes by 1
So
y = 20x
And the proprtionality constant (slope) of the data for truck 1 = 20
So A and C are correct
For Truck 2.....
Note that the slope is not constant
The slope from hour 1 to hour 2 = 90 - 45 = 45
However.....the slope from hour 2 to hour 3 = 145 - 90 = 55
So.....this is not linear because the slope is not constant
So E is another correct answer
