The length of the minute hand is 150% of the length of the hour hand. In 1 hour, how much farther does the tip of the minute hand move than the tip of the hour hand? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

Note; the hour hand is 30mm

Call the radius of the hour hand, 30mm

So....the radius of the minute hand = 1.5 * 30 = 45mm

And....in one hour.....the minute hand  travels 2pi (45)  = 90pi mm

And the hour hand travels    pi/6 (30)  =  5pi mm

So.....the minute hand travels

90pi - 5pi  = 85 pi  mm  =  about 267mm  farther [ rounded]
