Tina had 4 times as many pencils as pens. She gave 260 pencils and 30 pens to her friends, after which she had twice as many pens as pencils left. How many pencils did she have altogether at first?(please answer in a specific primary 5 way as my nephew is primary 5)

C for coloured pencils and P for pens

C=4P    (1)

2(C-260)=(P-30)   (2)

Sub (1) into (2)

2(4P-260)=P-30

8P-520=P-30

7P-520=-30

7P=490

P=70

C=4P=4*70=280

280 pencils and 70pens
