A boat drops an anchor to the bottom of a lake. The anchor rope makes a 15 degree angle with the boat. The anchor rope is 24 feet long. To the nearest foot how deep is the lake?

I used 24cos15 giving me 23 i set my drawing up but its not matching

it depends how they are measuring the angle.

If the angle is 15deg from the vertical then

$$depth=24\cos(15deg)\approx 23.2 ft$$

If the angle is 15deg from the horizontal then

$$depth=24\sin(15deg)=6.2ft$$
