Can someone please explain how to do this quick? Thanks!
"The triangles in each diagram are similar to one another. Solve for x in each diagram. If an answer could be written as a fraction or decimal, type your answer in as a decimal. Diagrams are not necessarily drawn to scale."
First find the hypotenuse of the first triangle.
\(\sqrt{8^2 + 6^2} =10\)
Now since we know they're similar triangles, we can see that the relationship between the triangles are that they are doubled.
10 ÷ 2 = 5, which means x = 5.
Using the Pythagorean Theorem, the hypotenuse of the larger triangle is 10. So the ratio of 6:10 is equal to 3:x
we can also write it like this:
6/10 = 3/x
Solving for x, we get
x = 5 |
