a certain type of water lily spreads double the area it covers every year. Ten years after being planted in our lake these water Lily's cover a quorter of its serface. How many more years will it be before they cover the entire lake?

 If a quarter of the lake's surface is covered at ten years, a half will be covered at 11 years and the whole lake will be covered at 12 years. That is, it will be only two more years before the entire surface of the lake is covered. This is called exponential growth. 

What I just said, Did that ANY sense at all to you?
