12  =  2 x 2 x 3

14  =  2 x 7

16  =  2 x 2 x 2 x 2

To find the lowest common multiple, use the maximum number of each of the factors:  there are 4 twos, 1 three, and 1 seven:

2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 7  is the lowest common multiple

Any multiply of this number will be another common multiple.
