What does {} mean for a answer I got in math

Braces, { and }, are used to represent a set of answers.

If the answers to a problem are the numbers 4 and 2, this answer can be expressed as       {4, 2}.

Also, {7} means that the answer is 7.

If there is no number between the braces, you have an "empty set", and there is no answer. So:  { } means that the problem does not have an answer.
