Area of an equilateral triangle = the area of the cross-section = (1/2)side^2* sqrt(3)/2 = [sqrt(3)/4] *side^2
And the volume of the prism is ...... Cross- sectional area * Height
So......the volume =
[sqrt(3)/4] *(4)^2 * 8 = [ 32 *sqrt(3) ] units^3
A certain unifrom prism is 8 units high and each cross section of this prism is an equialeteral triangle. if all of the edges of the prism s base are 4 units long, what is the volume of the prism ?
