What is a+b+y+s+e=sb

Saseflower, you have subtracted b on the left sides  and divided by b on the right side.

You can't do that   :))

Well if y+b=y then b must equal 0

so

a+0+y+s+e=s*0 , ae-ys=yy

a+y+s+e=0 , ae-ys=yy

Mult both sides by y

ay+yy+sy+ey=0          ae=yy+ys

ay+ae+ey=0

Now I don't know     

If you want to simplify,

a + b + y + s + e = sb

Subtract b from both sides

a + y + s + e = s

Subtract s from both sides

a + y + e = 0

So a, y, and e together have to equal 0

Aw thanks, The actual whole question I have in front of me is... a+b+y+s+e=sb , ae-ys=yy , y+b=y ahhh I'm confused :s

Oh... well that is confusing I'm actually not quite sure...

I am asking if we are solving for a specific variable, or just smplifying?

 How do you come to get this long form? I KNOW the answer to this equation is 40213 (When the available numbers are 0,1,2,3,4) but I don't understand the long form of this equation.
