The diagonal will be the hypotenuse of a right triangle...so..its length is

 

√  [ 22^2  + 6^2  ] =

 

√ [ 484 + 36 ] =

 

√ 520  ≈  

 

22.8 ft

 

.8  of 1 foot  =   .8 * 12  inches  =  9.6 in

 

So...the length is ≈    22ft  9.6 in

To find the number of inches, take the decimal portion of the measurement and multiply by 12.
