During 2 consecetive days Julia eats 20% of apples in her bag.If at the end of the second day there are 32 apples in her bag, how many did she have the first day?
Let N be the number that Julia started with.......then we have that.....
N(.80)(.80) = 32
N (.64) = 32 divide both sides by .64
N = 50
Check....at the end of the first day, she ate 20% of 50 = 10....so there are 40 left
At the end of the second day, she ate 20% of 40 = 8......there are 32 left

Again in my work sheet i do not have 32, the worksheet is in another language. So maybe i translated it incorrectly!
Actually, buubleman, CPhill explained the N = the number of apples Julia started it.
So... the answer is not 32, but...
N=50
