.

Write an exponential equation in the form y = abx whose graph passes through points (−3, 24) and (−2, 12).

y = −3(24)x

y = 0.5(3)x

y = 3x

y = 3(0.5)x

Write an exponential equation in the form y = ab^x whose graph passes through points (−3, 24) and (−2, 12).

We have this

24 =  a(b)^(-3)

12 = a(b)^(-2)         divide the second equation by the first

(1/2)  = b

Sub this into the second equation

12 = a (1/2)^(-2)

12 = a (4)

3 = a

So...the equation is

y = 3 (1/2)^(x)  = 3(0.5)^x
