(X - 5) over 2 - (X - 3) over 4 = (X - 7) over 10 Not sure how to do this, if someone could show me the process, that would be very helpful.
(x - 5)/2 - (x-3)/4 = (x-7)/10 multiply through by the least common multiple of 2.4 and 10 , i.e., 20....this will clear the denominators
So we have
10(x - 5) - 5(x-3) = 2(x - 7) simplify
10x - 50 - 5x + 15 = 2x - 14 combine like terms
5x -35 = 2x -14 add 35 to both sides and subtract 2x from both sides
3x = 21 divide by 3
x = 7
You should verify that this is true by putting the answer back into the original problem !!!!
