Yes, but unfortunately you forgot part of the equation. If you put x = 6 in the left-hand side you get 6(6+6) which is 6*12, which is not 36. The equation isn't one which factors nicely!
Good try, but always check your answer by plugging it back into the original equation!
You can use the calculator here to solve this:
$${\mathtt{x}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}\left({\mathtt{x}}{\mathtt{\,\small\textbf+\,}}{\mathtt{6}}\right) = {\mathtt{36}} \Rightarrow \left\{ \begin{array}{l}{\mathtt{x}} = {\mathtt{\,-\,}}{\mathtt{3}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\sqrt{{\mathtt{5}}}}{\mathtt{\,-\,}}{\mathtt{3}}\\
{\mathtt{x}} = {\mathtt{3}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\sqrt{{\mathtt{5}}}}{\mathtt{\,-\,}}{\mathtt{3}}\\
\end{array} \right\} \Rightarrow \left\{ \begin{array}{l}{\mathtt{x}} = -{\mathtt{9.708\: \!203\: \!932\: \!499\: \!369\: \!1}}\\
{\mathtt{x}} = {\mathtt{3.708\: \!203\: \!932\: \!499\: \!369\: \!1}}\\
\end{array} \right\}$$
Note there are two solutions.

Oh don’t worry about it, zegroes. A few more of these and you can join the Goldenleaf club. it is a great honor!
I’m trying to petition Admin to give a special golden leaf icon for that club. My last publicly posted petition was deleted, without ceremony nor comment. Pity. I thought it was a great idea. Unique talent should be recognized!
