y varies directly as x. If x = -6 then y = 10. Find y when x = 6.

Please don't cheat on your test.

I am just going to give you a few hints:

If y varies directly with x, then \(y=kx\), where k is a constant. Set x = -6 and y = -10 to solve for k:

\(10 = -6 \cdot k\\k=-\frac{5}{3}\)

Knowing what k is, plug it back to \(y=kx\), and plug 6 for x, and solve for y. You can figure this out; I believe in you!
