Commas are often used just to seperate the different place values.
Ex.
10000000000000000
Tnis number is hard to read, right? It's difficult to tell what number it is.
However...
10,000,000,000,000,000
The commas divide up the zeros so you can count ones, thousands, millions, billions, trillions, and so on.
It's much easier to see what number it is since many numbers compose it.
Commas do not change the value, they are just there to help you read the number.
