Let me explain further.

Commas are often used just to seperate the different place values.

Ex.

10000000000000000

Tnis number is hard to read, right? It's difficult to tell what number it is.

However...

10,000,000,000,000,000

The commas divide up the zeros so you can count ones, thousands, millions, billions, trillions, and so on.

It's much easier to see what number it is since many numbers compose it.

Commas do not change the value, they are just there to help you read the number.

10,000 is 10000.

There is no difference between the comma and the regular style, Commas are just used so that you can pause when you say it like when you say 100,000,000 instead of having to say 100000000 in one breath.

Some countries like Germany use the comma as a decimal and the decimal like a comma.

 3,14159 for 3.14159

and

254.625.289 for 254,625,289

So in other words,

10,000 may mean 10 000 (ten thousand)  or it may mean 10.000 (ten)

It depends what country you are in. (and it may reflect the age of the writer)
