What is the ratio of the sides of triangle XYZ? 

The sides of a triangle, where the angles are 30^o, 60^o, and 90^o, are in ratio:  1: 2: √3 

A circle has a diameter of 12 inches. It is placed in a square whose sides have a length of 12 inches. What is the percent of the area of the square that is covered by the circle?

Area of the square is: 12² = 144 in²

Area of a circle is:  6² *pi = 113.1 in²

144in² /100 = 113.1in² /x

x = 78.54%

Your question is:

If somebody drove 693 miles in 11 hours, and also, drove 173.5 miles in 2 hours 45 minutes.  Then, how do i get miles they drove in 9 hours?

Total miles:   693 + 173.5 = 866.5

Total hours:  11 + 2.75 = 13.75

Put this information into a proportion:

                   866.5mil/13.75hrs = Xmil/9hrs

                   X = 866.5*9/13.75

                   X = 567.16

Answer:  In 9 hours that somebody drove 567.16 miles!

if the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 8.4 the adjacent is 6.1 and the opposite angle is 5.8 what is the tan ratio? i got 6.1 over 5.8 but the book says 5.8 over 8.4 

$$sin(A)=5.8/8.4$$

$$sin(B) =6.1/8.4$$

$$cos(A) = 6.1/8.4$$

$$cos(B) =5.8/8.4$$

$$tan(A)= 5.8/6.1$$

$$tan(B) = 6.1/5.8$$

The answer to your question is:  The tan ratio = 5.8/6.1!

But, if your book says that the ratio is 5.8/8.4 , then that MUST BE  the sine ratio, NOT the tangent!!!
