Doing this you must follow the pemdas method which is
P - Parenthasses
E - Exponets
M/D - Multiplication/division
A/S - Addition and sutraction
So, were given the equation \(2 + {3}^{2} - (3 - 1)\)
So in pemdas it first states we must do the parenthasses so will start with subtracting 1 from 3 ( 3 - 1) = 2
Our equation now is \(2 + {3}^{2} - 2\)
Next step in pemdas is do the exponets and there are exponets so we can take care of that 32 Is 3 * 3 = 9
So we can add that to our equation \(2 + 9 * 2\)
Now we know that multilcation is the next step in the pemdas process so we need to multiply 9 times 2 and 9 * 2 = 18
and all that's left is \(2 + 18\)
And 2 + 18 = 20
So, the value to the expression is 20
