A publisher claims that the average salary paid at its company is $37,500 but it could differ as much as $4,500. Write and solve an absolute value inequality to determine the range of salaries at this company.

*My option's*

**|x − 37500| ≤ 4500; The salaries range from $33,000 to $42,000 **

**|x − 37,500| ≤ 4500; The salaries are less than $33,000 or greater than $42,000. **

**|x − 37500| ≥ 4500; The salaries range from $33,000 to $42,000 **

**|x − 37,500| ≥ 4500; The salaries are less than $33,000 or greater than $42,000.**

I'm having trouble figuring thes eout in general and what the question ask's may I please have an explanitory explination on what is going on?

**THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL THE TIME YOU SPEND HELPING ME IT'S REALLY APPRICATED!**

OK, HL.....

The salaries could be as much as $4500* less than* $37,500 which means that the salaries could be as little as

$37,500 -$4500 = $33,000

Or..

The salaries could be as much as $4500 * more than* $37,500 = $37,500 + $4500 = $42,000

So

The salries could range from $33,000 to $42000 and lx - 37,5000 l ≤ $4500 is correct [ the first answer ]
