The way I did it was the following:

150ft^{2} = 6x + \(\frac{1}{2}\)( 4 * 6 ) I completed the paraenthasesses

150ft^{2 }= 6x + 12 ft^{2 }Then after that I subtracted 12 from both sides

138ft^{2 }= 6x after that I divided both side's by 6 and ended with

23 = x

**THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE TIME SPENT HELPING ME!**

I got the same thing as you 👍👍

area of tabletop = area of rectangle + area of triangle

Given that the area of the tabletop is 150 ft^{2} , we can make the equation

150 ft^{2} = area of rectangle + area of triangle

150 ft^{2} = 6x ft^{2} + \(\frac12\)(4)(6) ft^{2}

At this point we can cancel the ft^{2} on every term

150 = 6x + \(\frac12\)(4)(6)

Simplify \(\frac12\)(4)(6) to get 12

150 = 6x + 12

Subtract 12 from both sides.

138 = 6x

Divide both sides by 6

23 = x
