I have made some changes to the original post, let me know how you get on.

Why did I divide by x:

I used the quotient rule.  The denominator of the quotient rule is v^2

v=sqrt{x}

v^2 = x

Anyway let me know if youdo or if you don't understand :))

\(\sqrt{-2}=\sqrt{2*-1}=\sqrt2*\sqrt{-1}=\sqrt2\;i\)

18+14+10+8 = 50

When 50 signed up    18 volunteered  for hospital and  8 volunteered for library

350/50 = 7

so

expectations:

When 50*7 signed up    18*7 volunteered  for hospital and  8*7 volunteered for library

When 350   signed up    126   volunteered  for hospital and  56  volunteered for library

126 - 56 =  70

You would expect 70 more to serve in the hospital than in the library :)
