You would first change the percent into a decimal:
45% = 0.045
Then you would get-
0.045*80
which equals-
36
The other answer is wrong, kinda at least.
While 45% of 80 are indeed 36 BUT 45% does not equal 0.045 it equals 0.45.
0.045*80 is 3.6
whereas 0.45 is 36.
Picture percentages like this:
100% of something is just the something so it's 1 something.
100%=1
thus 50%, half of it, equal 0.50,
the pattern continues.
1%=0.01, a hundredth of something.
