so we'd solve this like ;

1/8 + 1/12 =  1 /x  ( now we have to get the same denominators for adding)

1*3/8*3 = 3/24 

1*2/12*2 = 2/24   ( now we'll arrange them and add)

3/24 + 2/24 = 1/x 

5/24 = 1/x   ( now take the one to the other side which will then give us our x )

x = 24/5 * 1 (now we'll simply just multiply)

x = 24/5

x = 4 . 8    ANSWER
